... "Delray Beach Public Library has selected FASTRAC, a second-generation asset management system based upon radio frequency identification (RFID) technology for enhancing their circulation services and security: The FASTRAC system will enable the Delray Beach Public Library to provide enhanced circulation services to patrons, while streamlining workflow and processing tasks for staff. These services include such tasks as multiple-item processing for checkout, check-in, as well as patron self-check out. At the same time, FASTRAC provides for rapid, uninterrupted security for all library materials. Collection management is faster and more accurate and library staff spends less time with repetitive, clerical tasks. Delray Beach Public Library will be implementing FASTRAC within their new main library scheduled to open in October 2005. The library will begin tagging their existing 100,000 volumes while in their present location and are planning for an additional 100,000 volumes from their book vendor as part of their ODC. The new TagSYS C320 ISO 18000-3 standard tags will be used across the complete collection. " ...
