... "Several months back, companies manufactured and marketed RFID tags for tracking shipping containers. A request was submitted to the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) to allow RFID transmitters to operate at a higher duty cycle than 433 MHz, a frequency used by the Department of Defense. In response to the request to the FCC, the Air Force (AF) asked the FCC to consider changing the frequency to 449 MHz, a frequency used by wind profiler radars. After discussions with NOAA and a meeting with the FCC, the AF has dropped their request. W/OPS11 has reviewed the wind profiler radar frequency assignment and found no established interference criteria. If wind profiler radars become part of the inventory of operational systems, the NWS must establish interference criteria. " ...
