RFID Tracks Hazmat Waste Management Chain of Custody

GlobeRanger and Bechtel Jacobs collaborate to manage hazardous waste disposal at East Tennessee Technology Park with RFID technology, ensuring that the appropriate level of tracking is in place to support the chain of custody. ...

... "Utilizing GlobeRanger iMotion software platform, the system is designed to automatically identify vehicles at designated checkpoints, thus giving Bechtel Jacobs visibility into real-time material tracking as well as the ability to remotely manage the RFID systems, even in locations where infrastructures may be non-existent.

GlobeRanger software is responsible for collecting and processing data from a variety of devices including handhelds, fixed RFID readers and weigh scales. The system, based on strict business logic and workflow guidelines, instantly flags and provides alerts and notifications if processes or time schedule variances deviated from pre-defined Bechtel Jacobs’s route expectations. In the first ten months, the system has processed over 17,000 trucks, resulting in increased efficiencies, reduced carbon footprint and significant cost avoidance. " ...

Alien Higgs RFID Chip Tracks Waste from Cleanup Sites

Alien Technology collaborates with Bechtel Jacobs Company and GlobeRanger to deliver a viable RFID solution for tracking of contaminated waste removed from clean-up sites. The solution has been applied to the Bechtel Jacobs' environmental remediation process, where tracking and detailed record keeping is critical. ...Enviromental remediation is improved with RFID technology

... "Within three months of initial discussions, a deployable RFID solution was installed in the field. Vehicles were equipped with tags containing Alien’s feature-rich Higgs-3 IC, and rugged deployable passive RFID towers were developed using Alien’s enterprise-class ALR-9900 readers. Utilizing software developed by GlobeRanger, the system was designed to automatically identify vehicles at designated checkpoints, thus giving Bechtel Jacobs visibility into real-time material tracking as well as the ability to remotely manage the RFID systems, even in locations where infrastructures may be non-existent.

The GlobeRanger software collected data from a variety of devices, including handhelds, fixed RFID readers, and weigh scales. Data from these inputs was then programmed in the extended memory section of the Alien Higgs-3 tags using encryption algorithms to enhance security. The system was designed to flag and provide alerts and notifications if processes or time schedule variances deviated from pre-defined expectations. " ...

RFID Waste Management Process Implements Access Control and Tracking

Alien Technology and Creativesystems collaborate to deliver a process-integrated RFID solution for LIPOR, the municipal Waste Management organization for Greater Oporto, Portugal. The RFID technology support a more streamlined and automated process, which was previously manual. ...

... "LIPOR has installed the Alien-Creativesystems RFID tracking solution to verify if a certain truck is allowed to unload its garbage at the waste management disposal center. Alien’s ALR-8800 passive UHF reader/writer, controls the gate barrier’s opening and closing by first reading the tagged vehicle to determine if the vehicle is allowed entry. Once the barrier opens, the truck proceeds to a designated weigh bridge where the weight of the vehicle is recorded and is assigned to a tag on the windshield. This weight is then communicated to the driver via a display, and the vehicle then travels to a specific unload point inside the facility, where the waste is unloaded. The RFID solution also ascertains that the driver went to the correct unload point since there are readers mounted throughout the facility. When the truck exits LIPOR’s facility, the tag is once again read to determine if the truck is allowed to exit. Periodic, real-time reports are issued to the municipalities via email to for billing purposes. " ...

Glass-Encapsulated RFID Tags For Imbedding

Sokymat Automotive expands its transponder range by introducing low-frequency glass-encapsulated RFID tags. ...

... "Already established as a leading manufacturer of transponders for the automotive industry, Sokymat Automotive has now launched an increased range of low frequency glass-encapsulated tags operating between 125kHz and 140kHz, including an all-new 4mm diameter tag. The new tags are available with a range of IC chips, including the innovative one time programmable (OTP) EM4305 chip from EM Marin which offers a significantly improved read distance and is suited for a number of applications – from industry logistics to access control. In addition the EM4305 supports waste management (BDE) and animal identification (ISO FDX-B) standards. As the RFID transponder is encapsulated in glass, it can be attached to, or embedded into, the object or animal to be identified, without risk. " ...
