RFID Data

RFID Data Definition...

The data that the RFID tag communicates to the RFID reader is a sequence of bytes that encode the identity of the object that the tag is placed on.  If the object is a commercial product, the data can be encoded in the format of an electronic product code or EPC.  RFID Data Definition When the data is transferred from the RFID tag to the reader, a server performs a cross-reference of the tag data with reference data on the internet to obtain the detailed master records about the specific object.

If the object is a person or some other non-commercial product, a different data definition is needed to make the identification.  In applications, such as access control, proprietary data definitions typically used.  In addition, master data for non-commercial objects could be distributed on the internet, similar to the data for products.  The same type of master data cross-reference process may be required to support the identification process.  With data about people, privacy needs come to the forefront and requirements must be met.

What will the RFID data definition or code be for human objects?  Social security number in the U.S.?  How will non-commercial objects be handled?
